Its solemn, frugal appearance hides a rich interior: late Gothic plank ceilings, artful panelling with late 19th-century carvings,
an illusionist mural, old, family-owned and new paintings – an organic visual synergy that looks far from being museal or staged. Gerhard Pichler runs the place in the fourth generation.
Gently and sensibly, he preserves what has long been lost elsewhere, thus presenting modern guests with spaces where history becomes alive and tangible.
